December Birthdays

17th – Jordan… turning 2!

Pose of the Month

Our bodies and minds are working overtime this month. Center yourself with a pose that stretches, strengthens, and relieves stress. Downward Facing Dog, Adho Mukha Svanasana, does this and more. If you’re looking for a fun pose with a new (upside down) perspective to share with your family this season, Down Dog might just be the one. Little Beings can be assisted into this pose when a parent/caregiver places his or her hands at the hips and encourages a forward bend. Remember, that this should be a positive experience. If your little one isn’t interested, demonstrate the pose yourself or with the help of a stuffed animal. Make the posture fun and excited by calling out, “Look! Wow, Down Dog?!” animatedly to draw their attention. In time, your child will come into the pose on his or her own terms. Check out Adho Mukha Svanasana at Yoga Journal.com.

Meditation of the Month

How often do you want, instead of allow things to happen in your life? Track your thoughts, attitudes, and breath with the same awareness that you would use to observe a young child at play. In this gentle awareness, find peace knowing that you are present, yet you need not participate. Your body and mind will continue to be. Stillness takes patience and perseverance. Know that in time, if you can want less and allow more, being will come more easily and light will shine upon your right path.

MW “Did-You-Know…”

According to the Mayo Clinic:

Yoga is considered a mind-body type of complementary and alternative medicine practice. Yoga brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve peacefulness of body and mind, helping you relax and manage stress and anxiety. The potential health benefits of yoga are numerous and may include: Stress reduction – Increased fitness and weight loss – Management of chronic health conditions

How OM-azing would it be to increase your life-joy, reduce stress, and create better overall mind and body health??
